WEBSITE OF THE WEEK: www.christianfathers.com This website written from a Christian perspective contains many parenting resources that will help you in your home as you strive to become a blessed father and husband.

What is a Dad?

A Dad is someone who
wants to catch you before you fall
but instead picks you up,
brushes you off,
and lets you try again.

A Dad is someone who
wants to keep you from making mistakes but instead lets you find your own way,
even though his heart breaks in silence
when you get hurt.

A Dad is someone who
holds you when you cry,
scolds you when you break the rules,
shines with pride when you succeed, and has faith in you even when you fail…

Instead, he got a safe job as an accountant and when I was 12 years old he was let go from that safe job. I learned many great lessons from my father. Not the least of which was that: You can fail at what you don’t want. So you might as well take a chance on doing what you love.” Jim Carrey

‘I WORRIED’ I worried a lot. ‘Will the garden grow, will the rivers flow in the right direction, will the earth turn as it was taught, and if not how shall I correct it? Was I right, was I wrong, will I be forgiven, can I do better?
Will I ever be able to sing, even the sparrows can do it and I am, well, hopeless. Is my eyesight fading or am I just imagining it, am I going to get rheumatism, lockjaw, dementia? Finally I saw that worrying had come to nothing. And gave it up. And took my old body and went out into the morning and sang.”

SHORT BUT SWEET: A teacher was giving her pupils a lesson in   logic. “Here is the situation,” she said. “A  man is standing up in a boat in the middle of a river, fishing. He loses his balance, falls in, and begins splashing and yelling for help. His wife hears the commotion, knows he can’t swim, and runs down to the bank. Why do you think she ran to the bank? “A little girl raised her hand and  suggested, ” ‘To draw out all his savings?”
